Cardiff Met and Cardiff City made the most of Swansea City’s involvement in the Welsh Cup to move three points clear of the reigning league champions at the Genero Adran Premier summit.

As the Swans humbled Coed Duon 17-0 in their rearranged first-round cup tie, the Archers and Bluebirds beat Pontypridd Town and Barry Town United respectively.

Met have the edge at the top on goal difference after a 4-0 win at Jenner Park.

Emily Allen opened the scoring on 14 minutes, converting a Sophie Hancocks free-kick with a far-post volley, and then Taylor O’Leary doubled the lead soon after.

Laura-May Walkley made it 3-0 just after the interval and Erin Murray added a fourth eight minutes from time.

An early Megan Saunders goal gave Cardiff City the lead at home against Pontypridd.

The visitors were back on level terms thanks to Niamh Tinman’s leveller, however, Saunders’ stunning 25-yard effort just after the hour gave the hosts all three points.
