A singer-songwriter from Chepstow has co-written the latest single by international superstar Diana Ross.

Violet Skies, who cut her teeth playing shows across Wales, is one of the writers behind Ms Ross' new song, I Still Believe.

The song features as the lead single on the star's 25th album, Thank You, which is out now on Decca Records.

I Still Believe was created by the sheWrites organisation, a group set up five years ago by Violet Skies and her colleague Charlie McClean to bring together and promote female musical talent.

The pair, along with co-writers Autumn Rowe and RuthAnne Cunningham, penned the new song for Ms Ross after attending a writing camp in Los Angeles in early 2020.

“We’re so proud of what we have created with Diana Ross, a true icon, who supported sheWrites whilst we were still a small team of two women working to make the music industry a more inclusive space," the pair said.

"We’re so happy that I Still Believe, written in its entirety by women at our camp, is a key track for her new album, and we can’t thank Sam [Mumford], Decca Records and Diana Ross enough for their belief in what we do.

"And of course, meeting Ms Ross at the session was an absolute thrill.”

Mr Mumford said: “It was such a great experience working with sheWrites to run a groundbreaking, all-female workshop for Diana Ross in LA.

"It was inspiring to work with such incredibly talented writers and producers and I am so pleased that the new single, I Still Believe, from the workshop has become such an important part of the new Diana Ross album.”
