It is now just four weeks until The National Environmental Awards are held at Rougemont School in Newport.

While the finalists are getting ready to don their best bib and tucker for the second annual ceremony, so too are the sponsors who will also be there on the night of July 14.

Western Power Distribution and GPT Environmental are this year’s co-headline sponsors, but there is a raft of other businesses backing the event by sponsoring award categories.

Knauf Insulation, which has a plant just outside Cwmbran, is one of those – they are supporting the Sustainability through Innovation Award.

The company is a worldwide leading manufacturer of insulation materials with more than 5,000 employees in over 35 countries, including Wales.

The National Wales:

The Gwent plant is one of more than 40 spanning 15 countries, including the USA, where Knauf Fiber Glass was founded in 1978.

“Knauf Insulation, the only UK manufacturer of glass and rock mineral wool, has long been committed to sustainability,” said a spokesperson.

“It is at the heart of everything it does across the value chain.

“Its sustainability journey started over 10 years ago with the launch of its then revolutionary bio-based binder, ECOSE Technology, which is still unique today to Knauf Insulation.

“Thanks to its commitment to sustainability over the years, Knauf Insulation has not only reduced its impact on the environment, but it has also improved the embodied carbon of its glass mineral wool, which is now the lowest of all mainstream insulants.

“In 2020, Knauf Insulation launched its ‘For A Better World’ sustainability strategy, which set mid and long-term targets across its four pillars; Put People First, Achieve Zero Carbon, Deliver a Circular Economy and Create Better Buildings.

“Sponsoring the Sustainability through Innovation Award at this year’s National Environmental Awards perfectly aligns with Knauf Insulation’s ‘For A Better World’ sustainability strategy and global objectives for 2025. Good luck to all those shortlisted!”

Observance of and compliance with laws, regulations, and other legislation, but also the observance of ethical and social standards, are fundamental values of the Knauf Group.

To protect the corporate group from risks, damage, and loss, it is indispensable that each and every employee acts responsibly and in conformity with the above laws, regulations and standards.

“Reliability, credibility and integrity are essential prerequisites for the success of the business,” says the company on its official website.

“For us, it is a matter of course that we observe the laws and regulations of the countries we operate in.

“We are a company, a brand, a family that cares for and puts the needs of its customers first.”
