There's just a week left to get your nominations in for The National Environmental Awards, which take place this summer.

The deadline for entries closes on Friday, May 20 – and it couldn’t be easier to nominate those who are striving to protect the planet.

There are a total of 13 awards up for grabs, with the prizes set to be handed out at a glitzy ceremony in July.

So, why should you enter this year’s awards?

Environmental issues are at the forefront of our lives now more than ever, with a growing number of companies setting targets to become net zero.

There are also individuals and community groups going above and beyond to do what they can to make our world a healthier one for this and future generations.

We want to herald those who deserve recognition for the work they are doing to help the environment.

It’s not always in our nature to nominate ourselves for an award but when you’ve been doing great stuff why shouldn’t you be recognised?

Entering the awards will help boost your profile – individual, group or business – and hopefully go some way towards assisting you in reaching your environmental goals.

Alternatively, why not nominate someone or a group of people you work with to not only give them a chance of becoming an award winner but to also give them a real confidence boost.

There should be something for everyone in our categories:

  • Environmental Leader Award
  • Environmental Community Group Award
  • Sustainability through Innovation Award
  • Carbon Zero Efficient Building Award
  • Environmental Entrepreneur Award
  • Sustainability through Tourism & Leisure Award
  • Retailer of the Year Award
  • Education/School or College Award
  • Marketing Campaign of the Year
  • Best Policy and Practise within the Public Sector
  • Outstanding Organisation Award
  • Best Product of the Year Award
  • Technology for Good Award

How else can you get involved in this year’s awards?

Western Power Distribution and GPT Environmental Management Services are the co-headline sponsors of the second annual environmental awards.

Knauf, Coleg Gwent, Monmouthshire Building Society, Newport City Council, Evolve and Salix Finance are also on board to back the event.

And while there is still an opportunity to make a nomination, there’s also time left to sign up as a category sponsor.
