Dow Silicones Prepares for
Maintenance Shutdown at Plant Site

Employees at the Dow Silicones plant in Barry are beginning preparations this week for a maintenance shutdown. During the shutdown, the site will stop several of its main production processes to facilitate inspections and overhaul work that will allow the plant to continue to run safely and reliably.

From September 5th to October 20th, machinery and equipment on the 160-acre site will be cleaned and thoroughly inspected as part of the company's commitment to compliance, safety and reliability.
The work is expected to be done over a period of six (6) weeks. During this time, the level of traffic is likely to increase slightly, and neighbours may experience some additional noise.

We are taking the following steps to help minimise the noise level:
1) Keeping noisy activities to daytime and early evening whenever reasonably possible.

2) Using advanced noise muffling barriers around high activity areas.

3) Carrying out fence line noise monitoring so that we can detect and react to noise issues more proactively.

If anyone in the community has any questions about the shutdown, we would encourage them to get in touch with us on 01446 732350 during daytime hours. Noise related issues can be reported on 0800 783 0187. We aim to complete the maintenance as quickly as possible, whilst maintaining and adhering to the highest levels of safety as this is our top priority.

We apologise in advance for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.
